Why choose us

Do you owe taxes? Unless a parent organization has a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, it must file and pay Federal and State taxes when it raises money. Organizations recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization are exempt from paying taxes on their income. NC PTOs & Booster Clubs Association has the ability and experience to obtain a 501(c)(3) status from the IRS so that the organization is TAX-EXEMPT from all income taxes.
Are your personal assets at risk? If a nonprofit is not incorporated, then the board members, officers and all members of the parent organizations may be personally liable for the non-profit’s responsibilities. If the nonprofit is incorporated, then lawsuits and outstanding debt only apply to the organization's corporate assets. Thus, members of the parent organization enjoy legal protection from most situations.

Once incorporated, the nonprofit becomes a recognized legal entity, separate from the individuals who carry out its operations. The corporation has a life of its own and continues as individual members come and go.

NC PTOs & Booster Clubs Association will apply for your parent organization's federal identification number (EIN), apply for your sales tax exemption on items for resale, file your annual IRS 990 return and assist with sales tax refunds, special grants, and fundraising accountability.

It is important for parent organizations to have an association where they can find or ask questions regarding internal controls and accounting procedures for treasurers and fundraisers; an association that monitors compliance with state and federal tax laws; and an association to serve as the organization's NC Registered Agent.
